Pizza Dough

Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dough

In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center, then add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Gravy Preparation

  1. 5

    Sauté Aromatics

In a large saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until onion is translucent.

  2. 6

    Cook Sauce

Add canned tomatoes, tomato paste, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper to the saucepan. Simmer on low heat for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Pizza Assembly

  1. 7

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).

  2. 8

    Roll Out Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to fit a large pizza stone or baking sheet.

  3. 9

    Add Sauce

Spread a generous amount of the Sunday gravy over the pizza dough, leaving a small border around the edges.

  4. 10

    Add Toppings

Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the gravy, then layer the cooked and crumbled sausage, shredded pork, and sliced meatballs on top.

  5. 11

    Bake Pizza

Transfer the pizza to the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
