Sunday Gravy

Method

Pizza Dough

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a large bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5–10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Ingredients

Add olive oil, salt, and flour gradually. Stir until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let it Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  5. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).

Sunday Gravy

  1. 6

    Sauté Aromatics

In a large saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions and sauté for about 5 minutes until translucent.

  2. 7

    Add Garlic

Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

  3. 8

    Cook Tomatoes

Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and let it cook for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Assembling the Pizza

  1. 9

    Roll Out Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into your desired pizza shape on a floured surface.

  2. 10

    Add Gravy

Spread a generous amount of Sunday gravy over the rolled-out pizza dough.

  3. 11

    Layer Toppings

Top with shredded mozzarella, crumbled pork sausage, and sliced meatballs. Sprinkle chopped fresh basil over the top.

  4. 12

    Bake the Pizza

Carefully transfer the pizza to a baking sheet or pizza stone. Bake for 15-20 minutes until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.

  5. 13

    Serve

Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, slice, and serve hot.
