Method
Pasta Preparation
- 1
Cooking the Linguini
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the linguini and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
- 2
Draining the Pasta
Once cooked, reserve about 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain the linguini in a colander and set aside.
Marinara Sauce Preparation
- 3
Sautéing the Garlic
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- 4
Adding Tomatoes and Seasonings
Add the canned crushed tomatoes to the skillet. Stir in the dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Allow the sauce to simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 5
Incorporating Fresh Basil
Once the sauce has thickened slightly, stir in the torn fresh basil leaves and simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes.
Combining Pasta and Sauce
- 6
Mixing Linguini with Marinara
Add the drained linguini to the skillet with the marinara sauce. Toss to combine, adding reserved pasta water as needed to achieve desired consistency.
