Drain and Rinse
Once curds have formed, use a slotted spoon to ladle them into a colander lined with cheesecloth. Rinse the curds under cold water and sprinkle with salt, mixing gently.

Knead and Shape
Gather the cheesecloth and twist to form a ball. Knead the curds gently in hot water (around 170°F or 77°C) until smooth and stretchy. Shape into a ball and set aside.

Bread the Mozzarella
Cut the mozzarella into thick slices or sticks. Dip each piece first in flour, then in egg, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.

Fry the Cheese
In a large pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Fry the breaded mozzarella pieces until golden brown on all sides, about 3-4 minutes. Drain on paper towels.

Make the Sauce
Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Finish the Sauce
Stir in chopped basil just before serving.

Serve the fried mozzarella on a plate, drizzled with marinara sauce and topped with shaved Parmesan cheese.
