Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate the Yeast

In a small bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Make the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Add the frothy yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let it Rise

Place the kneaded dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.

Caramelized Onions

  1. 5

    Cook the Onions

In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced onion and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 15-20 minutes until they are golden brown and caramelized.

Pizza Assembly

  1. 6

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) to ensure a crispy crust.

  2. 7

    Roll out the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a pizza shape on a floured surface.

  3. 8

    Add the Sauce and Toppings

Spread the BBQ sauce over the rolled dough. Sprinkle the pulled baby back ribs evenly over the sauce. Top with shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese, followed by the caramelized onions.

  4. 9

    Bake the Pizza

Transfer the assembled pizza to a baking sheet or pizza stone and bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and the crust is golden.

  5. 10

    Garnish and Serve

Once baked, remove from the oven, let it cool slightly, and garnish with fresh cilantro if desired. Slice and serve hot.
