Preparation Directions
- 1
Prepare the Dough
If using store-bought pizza dough, let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. If making homemade dough, prepare it according to your favorite recipe and allow it to rise until doubled in size.
- 2
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to the highest temperature, usually around 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it preheats.
- 3
Shape the Dough
On a floured surface, stretch or roll out the pizza dough into a round shape about 12 inches in diameter. Transfer the shaped dough onto a pizza peel or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 4
Add Tomato Sauce
Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the surface of the dough, leaving a small border around the edges for the crust.
- 5
Add Cheese
Tear the fresh mozzarella cheese into small pieces and distribute them evenly over the sauce.
- 6
Season and Add Basil
Sprinkle salt and black pepper over the pizza. Tear fresh basil leaves and scatter them on top of the cheese.
- 7
Drizzle with Olive Oil
Drizzle the olive oil over the pizza to add flavor and help with browning.
- 8
Bake the Pizza
Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
- 9
Serve
Once baked, remove the pizza from the oven. Let it cool for a couple of minutes, slice it, and serve hot. Enjoy your homemade Margherita pizza!
