Method
Prepare the Espresso Mixture
- 1
Brew Espresso
Brew 1 cup of strong espresso and mix it with 2 tablespoons of coffee liqueur. Set aside to cool.
Prepare the Mascarpone Filling
- 2
Mix Mascarpone
In a mixing bowl, combine 500g of mascarpone cheese, 1 cup of heavy cream, 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Beat the mixture until it becomes fluffy and smooth.
Make Caramel Sauce
- 3
Cook Sugar
In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1 tablespoon of water. Cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and turns a light amber color.
- 4
Add Butter and Cream
Remove from heat and add 2 tablespoons of butter and 1 cup of heavy cream, stirring continuously until combined. Let cool.
Assemble the Tiramisu
- 5
Dip Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the espresso mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.
- 6
Layer the Tiramisu
In a rectangular dish, layer half of the dipped ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone filling over the ladyfingers, then drizzle half of the caramel sauce on top.
- 7
Repeat Layers
Add another layer of dipped ladyfingers, followed by the remaining mascarpone filling and caramel sauce.
Garnish and Chill
- 8
Dust with Cocoa
Sift 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder over the top of the tiramisu.
- 9
Add Chocolate Shavings
Sprinkle chocolate shavings (50g) on top of the cocoa powder for garnish.
- 10
Chill
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
