Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, mix warm water (110°F/43°C), sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough begins to form.

  4. 4

    Knead Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Pizza Assembly

  1. 6

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.

  2. 7

    Shape Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out into your desired pizza shape.

  3. 8

    Add Toppings

Transfer the rolled-out dough to a pizza peel or baking sheet. Layer the sliced mushrooms evenly over the dough, followed by the slices of mozzarella cheese. Season with salt and pepper.

  4. 9

    Bake the Pizza

Carefully transfer the pizza to the hot oven (or onto the pizza stone). Bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

  5. 10

    Finish with Basil

Once out of the oven, drizzle with a little olive oil and scatter fresh basil leaves over the top. Let cool for a minute before slicing.
