Rest the Steak
Once cooked, remove the steaks from the grill and allow them to rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
Prepare the Fries
- 4
Cut the Potatoes
Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick.
- 5
Soak the Potatoes
Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch, which helps achieve crispiness.
- 6
Dry the Potatoes
After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels.
- 7
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 8
Fry the Potatoes
Carefully add the dried potato strips in batches to the hot oil. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 9
Season the Fries
While still hot, sprinkle the fried potatoes with salt to taste.
