Method

Onion Rings Preparation

  1. 1

    Slice the Onions

Peel the large onions and slice them into about 1/2-inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, beer, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until smooth and let it rest for about 15 minutes.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or a deep fryer, heat the cooking oil over medium-high heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Coat the Onion Rings

Dip each onion ring into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated. Allow excess batter to drip off.

  5. 5

    Fry the Onion Rings

Carefully place the coated onion rings into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown.

  6. 6

    Drain and Serve

Using a slotted spoon, remove the onion rings from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Keep warm until ready to serve.

Ranch Dressing Preparation

  1. 7

    Mix the Ingredients

In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, dried dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until smooth.

  2. 8

    Chill the Dressing

Cover the ranch dressing and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
