Method

Poppers Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Jalapeños

Slice the jalapeños in half lengthwise and remove the seeds and membranes for less heat. Place them aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Filling

In a mixing bowl, combine the cheddar cheese, cream cheese, and bacon bits. Mix until well combined.

  3. 3

    Stuff the Jalapeños

Using a spoon, fill each jalapeño half with the cheese mixture, packing it in gently.

  4. 4

    Prepare Breading Stations

Set up three bowls: one with flour, one with the beaten egg, and one with panko breadcrumbs.

  5. 5

    Bread the Poppers

Dredge each stuffed jalapeño in flour, then dip into the egg, and finally coat with panko breadcrumbs. Ensure they are evenly covered.

Frying and Serving

  1. 6

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 7

    Fry the Poppers

Carefully add the breaded jalapeño poppers to the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.

  3. 8

    Drain and Cool

Remove the poppers from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

  4. 9

    Serve

Arrange the fried jalapeño poppers on a serving plate and serve hot with ranch dressing on the side for dipping.
