Meat and Cheese
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Meat Mixture
In a large mixing bowl, combine the Italian sausage, ground beef, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
- 2
Form Meatballs
Shape the meat mixture into meatballs, approximately 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 3
Bake the Meatballs
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the meatballs for about 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through and browned.
- 4
Prepare the Ricotta Filling
In a separate bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, chopped parsley, and a pinch of salt and pepper until well combined.
- 5
Assemble the Dish
In a large baking dish, layer half of the baked meatballs, followed by slices of salami, mozzarella, and provolone cheese. Spread the ricotta mixture over the top, then layer the remaining meatballs and finish with more cheese.
- 6
Final Bake
Return the assembled dish to the oven and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- 7
Serve
Allow to cool slightly before serving. Garnish with additional fresh parsley if desired.
