Preheat the oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Mix dry ingredients
In a bowl, combine the rolled oats, all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Cream butter and sugars
In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until creamy and well combined.

Add eggs and vanilla
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Combine mixtures
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.

Fold in butterscotch chips
Gently fold in the butterscotch chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Scoop and bake
Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.

Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
