Funnel Cake Batter
Method
Funnel Cake Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Batter
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk until well combined.
- 2
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep-fryer or large pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). You can test if the oil is ready by dropping a small amount of batter in; it should sizzle and rise to the surface.
- 4
Fry the Funnel Cake
Using a funnel or squeeze bottle, pour the batter into the hot oil in a circular motion, starting from the center and working your way outward to create a lace pattern. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown, then flip and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- 5
Drain and Dust
Remove the funnel cake from the oil and place it on paper towels to drain excess oil. Dust generously with powdered sugar before serving.
