Meatballs and Sauce
Method
Preparation and Assembly
- 1
Prepare the Meatballs
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, Italian breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, parsley, minced garlic, egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined. Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter.
- 2
Cook the Meatballs
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
- 3
Make the Sauce
In the same skillet, add the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, and dried basil. Stir to combine, then return the meatballs to the skillet. Simmer for about 15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- 4
Assemble the Hoagies
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the hoagie rolls on a baking sheet. Spoon the meatballs and sauce into each roll. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- 5
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- 6
Serve
Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your delicious meatball hoagies!
