Prepare the Vegetables
In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced red and green bell peppers, onion, and garlic. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are softened.

Mix the Burger Mixture
In a large bowl, combine the cooked black beans, sautéed vegetables, ground cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mash the mixture with a fork or potato masher until well combined but still chunky.

Add Breadcrumbs
Stir in the breadcrumbs until the mixture holds together. If the mixture is too wet, add a bit more breadcrumbs.

Form the Patties
Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties.

Serve the black bean burgers on buns with your favorite toppings such as lettuce, tomato, avocado, and salsa.
