Filling and Crust

Method

Preparation and Baking

  1. 1

    Prepare the Crust

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, softened butter, powdered sugar, egg yolk, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Mix until a dough forms. Press the dough into the bottom and up the sides of a tart pan. Prick the bottom with a fork.

  2. 2

    Pre-bake the Crust

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the crust for 15 minutes or until lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Filling

In a large bowl, combine the sliced green apples, granulated sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss to coat the apples evenly.

  4. 4

    Fill the Tart

Arrange the apple mixture over the pre-baked crust, spreading it out evenly.

  5. 5

    Bake the Tart

Return the tart to the oven and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.

  6. 6

    Cool and Serve

Allow the tart to cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.
