Prepare the Chicken
Rinse the whole chicken under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels.

Prepare the Rub
In a separate bowl, mix together the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper to create the dry rub.

Apply the Rub
Rub the spice mixture all over the chicken, making sure to get it under the skin where possible for maximum flavor.

Preheat the Smoker
Preheat your smoker to 225°F (107°C).

Smoke the Chicken
Place the chicken in the smoker breast side up. Smoke for about 4-5 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

Rest and Serve
Once cooked, remove the chicken from the smoker and let it rest for 15-20 minutes before carving. Serve and enjoy!
