Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beans

Rinse the navy beans under cold water and remove any debris. Soak the beans in a large pot of water overnight.

  2. 2

    Cook the Beans

Drain and rinse the soaked beans. In a pot, combine the beans with 6 cups of fresh water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 1 hour or until the beans are tender. Drain and set aside.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).

  4. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked beans, chopped onion, brown sugar, ketchup, mustard, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

  5. 5

    Add Bacon

In a large baking dish, layer the chopped bacon at the bottom. Pour the bean mixture over the bacon.

  6. 6

    Bake

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 30 minutes until bubbly and slightly caramelized on top.
