Doro Wott Ingredients

Method

Doro Wott Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Chicken

Clean the chicken pieces and marinate with salt and a little of the berbere spice for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Cook the Onions

In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown, about 15-20 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add Garlic and Ginger

Add minced garlic and ginger to the pot, cooking for an additional 5 minutes until fragrant.

  4. 4

    Incorporate Spices

Stir in the berbere spice mix and crushed cardamom pods, cooking for another 2-3 minutes.

  5. 5

    Add Chicken

Add the marinated chicken pieces to the pot, stirring to coat them well with the spice mixture.

  6. 6

    Simmer

Cover the pot and reduce the heat to low. Allow the chicken to cook slowly in its juices for about 45 minutes to 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

  7. 7

    Add Hard Boiled Eggs

Once the chicken is tender, gently add the hard boiled eggs to the pot, simmering for an additional 10 minutes.
