Method
Cookie Dough
- 1
Preheat the oven to 350 F (175 C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- 2
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- 3
Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
- 4
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- 5
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients until just combined.
- 6
Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chunks until evenly distributed.
- 7
If desired, sprinkle a small amount of flaky sea salt over the tops of the cookies.
- 8
Shape and bake
Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough (or use a 1.5-tablespoon scoop) onto the prepared sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden and centers look slightly underbaked.
- 9
Cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve with a glass of milk if desired.
