For the Onion Rings
Method
Preparation Steps
- 1
Prepare the Onions
Peel the onions and slice them into 1/4 inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set aside.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Gradually stir in the cold water until the batter is smooth and well combined.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep pan or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Coat the Onion Rings
Dip each onion ring into the batter, allowing excess batter to drip off.
- 5
Fry the Onion Rings
Carefully place the coated onion rings in the hot oil, working in batches if necessary. Fry until golden brown, about 2-4 minutes.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Remove the onion rings from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
