Make the Meatballs
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, grated parmesan, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

Form and Cook the Meatballs
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter. Place meatballs on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through.

Assemble the Sandwich
Slice the French bread in half lengthwise. Place meatballs with sauce on the bottom half of the bread. Top with sliced Provel cheese and additional parmesan if desired. Place under the broiler for 2-3 minutes until cheese is melted.

Serve
Carefully remove from oven, slice into portions, and serve hot.
