Method

Brownie Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.

  2. 2

    Melt Butter and Combine Sugars

In a medium saucepan, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter over low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in 2 cups of granulated sugar and 1 cup of brown sugar until combined.

  3. 3

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then whisk in 4 large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in 2 tsp of vanilla extract.

  4. 4

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder, and 0.5 tsp of salt.

  5. 5

    Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Do not overmix. Gently fold in 1 cup of chocolate chips.

  6. 6

    Bake the Brownies

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

  7. 7

    Cool the Brownies

Once baked, remove from oven and allow to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Caramel Drizzle Preparation

  1. 8

    Make the Caramel

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add 1 cup of granulated sugar. Stir constantly until it melts and turns a golden amber color.

  2. 9

    Add Butter and Cream

Once the sugar is melted, carefully add 6 tbsp of unsalted butter and stir until completely melted. Slowly drizzle in 1/4 cup of heavy cream while stirring constantly. Be cautious as it may bubble up.

  3. 10

    Finish the Caramel

Add a pinch of salt and stir until smooth. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly before using.

Serving

  1. 11

    Serve the Brownies

Cut the cooled brownies into squares. Serve each square warm or at room temperature topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzled with the caramel sauce.
