Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Apples

Wash the apples thoroughly under running water. Remove the stems and cut them into quarters, leaving the skin on.

  2. 2

    Cook the Apples

In a large pot, combine the quartered apples and water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to a simmer. Cover and cook for about 20-25 minutes, or until the apples are soft.

  3. 3

    Mash and Strain

Using a potato masher or a fork, mash the softened apples to extract juice. Place a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth over a large bowl and pour the apple mixture into it. Allow the juice to strain for at least 15 minutes, pressing down on the solids to extract more juice.

  4. 4

    Sweeten and Flavor (Optional)

Once you have the juice, stir in sugar and lemon juice to taste. If desired, add cinnamon for additional flavor.

  5. 5

    Serve

Chill the apple juice in the refrigerator or serve immediately over ice. Enjoy your fresh homemade apple juice!
