Sandwich

Method

Sandwich

1

Prepare bread

If you prefer toasted bread, lightly butter each side of the three bread slices (about 1 tablespoon butter total) and toast in a skillet over medium heat or in a toaster until golden, about 1–2 minutes per side in a skillet or 2–3 minutes in a toaster. Remove and let cool briefly.

2

Prep produce

Wash lettuce leaves and pat dry. Slice tomato into two 1/4-inch slices (or adjust thickness to preference). Peel a red onion and separate into 4 thin rings. Lay out dill pickle slices.

3

Season tomatoes

Lightly sprinkle the tomato slices with the salt (1/4 tsp) and black pepper (1/8 tsp). This enhances flavor when assembled.

4

Assemble bottom layer

Place one toasted bread slice on your work surface with the untoasted side up (or toasted side if you like). Spread 1 tablespoon mayonnaise evenly over the bread. Layer 3 slices of turkey evenly across the bread, then add one slice of cheddar cheese on top of the turkey.

5

Middle layer

Place the second slice of toasted bread on top of the cheddar. Spread remaining 1 tablespoon mayonnaise on the top side of this middle slice and 1 teaspoon mustard on the underside of the top slice (the side that will contact the next layer). Add 3 slices of bacon across the mayo, then layer 4 slices of ham over the bacon.

6

Top layer & produce

Place the final slice of toasted bread on top of the ham with the mustard side down (mustard contacting the ham). On the top exposed bread surface (or on the inside of the top bread if you prefer), arrange the lettuce leaves, the seasoned tomato slices, the red onion rings (4 rings), and the dill pickle slices (6 slices). If desired, add the remaining cheddar slice here instead of the bottom layer for variation.

7

Finish & cut

Press the sandwich gently to compact layers slightly and ensure even bite. Using a sharp knife, cut the sandwich diagonally into two triangles (or into thirds if preferred). If serving to share, insert toothpicks through each half to hold layers. Serve immediately.

8

Serving suggestion

Serve the club sandwich with a side of potato chips, an extra pickle spear, or a small green salad. If you like, provide extra mustard and mayonnaise on the side for dipping.
