1. Prepare the Steak

Take the ribeye steak out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. This helps it cook evenly.

2. Season the Steak

Pat the steak dry with paper towels. Generously season both sides with salt and black pepper.

3. Heat the Pan

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.

4. Cook the Steak

Add the steak to the pan and sear for 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it, until a crust forms.

5. Flip and Add Flavor

Flip the steak and add the butter, garlic, and rosemary to the pan. Cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, basting the steak with the melted butter.

6. Check Doneness

Use a meat thermometer to check for your desired doneness: 130°F for medium-rare, 140°F for medium.

7. Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest on a cutting board for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

8. Serve

Slice the steak against the grain and serve with your favorite sides.
