Shoestring French Fries
Method
Preparation and Cooking
- 1
- 2
Soak the Fries
Let the fries soak in cold water for at least 30 minutes to an hour. This helps to achieve a crispier texture.
- 3
Dry the Fries
Drain the water and pat the fries dry using a clean kitchen towel or paper towels to remove moisture.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or a fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.
- 5
Fry the Potatoes
Carefully add a handful of fries to the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- 6
Drain and Season
Remove the fries from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. While they are still hot, sprinkle with sea salt to taste.
- 7
Serve
Serve the fries hot as a side dish or snack, optionally with your favorite dipping sauce.
