Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the ribeye steak from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. This ensures even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Generously season both sides of the ribeye with kosher salt, freshly ground black pepper, and garlic powder.

  3. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a large cast-iron skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.

  4. 4

    Sear the Steak

Add the ribeye steak to the hot skillet. Sear for 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it, until a rich brown crust forms.

  5. 5

    Flip and Add Herbs

Flip the steak and add the fresh rosemary and butter to the skillet. Cook for another 4-5 minutes, basting the steak with the melted butter and herbs.

  6. 6

    Check for Doneness

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For medium-rare, aim for 130°F (54°C). Adjust cooking time as necessary.

  7. 7

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked to your liking, remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest on a cutting board for at least 10 minutes before slicing.

  8. 8

    Serve

Slice the ribeye against the grain and serve immediately. Enjoy your melt-in-your-mouth tender ribeye!
