Method

Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Batter

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder. Mix well.

  2. 2

    Add Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.

  3. 3

    Bake the Cake

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and smooth the tops. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  4. 4

    Cool the Cakes

Once baked, remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for about 10 minutes. Then, remove from the pans and let them cool completely on a wire rack.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Frosting

In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Add a few drops of food coloring and mix until the desired color is achieved.

  6. 6

    Frost the Cake

Once the cakes are completely cool, spread a layer of frosting on top of one cake layer, place the second layer on top, and frost the top and sides of the cake.

  7. 7

    Decorate

Decorate the cake as desired. You can use additional frosting, sprinkles, or edible flowers to give it a beautiful presentation.
