Appetizers
- 1
Prepare the Mussels
Rinse the mussels under cold running water, scrubbing the shells with a brush to remove any debris. Remove the beards by pulling them off with your fingers.
- 2
- 3
Deglaze with Wine
Pour in the white wine and bring to a simmer. Let it cook for about 2 minutes to reduce slightly and enhance the flavors.
- 4
Add Mussels
Carefully add the cleaned mussels to the pot. Stir them into the aromatic mixture, ensuring they are well-coated.
- 5
Choose Your Sauce
Pour in your choice of scampi sauce or marinara sauce over the mussels. If you prefer a spicy kick, add the red pepper flakes at this stage. Stir gently to combine.
- 6
Simmer
Cover the pot and let the mussels simmer for about 5-7 minutes, or until they have opened up. Discard any mussels that remain closed.
- 7
Season and Garnish
Season the mussels with salt and black pepper to taste. Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the top before serving.
- 8
Serve
Serve the mussels hot with crusty bread or over pasta to soak up the delicious sauce.
