Preparation
- 1
Cook the Penne
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the penne pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- 2
Prepare the Sauce
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once hot, add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Add chopped fresh tomatoes and cook for another 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes soften.
- 3
Combine Ingredients
Add the cooked penne pasta, frozen peas, and creamy carbonara sauce to the skillet. Stir well to combine all ingredients, allowing the sauce to coat the pasta evenly.
- 4
Add Prosciutto and Season
Tear the prosciutto into bite-sized pieces and add to the pasta mixture. Season with salt and black pepper. Stir to combine and heat through for another 2-3 minutes.
- 5
Finish with Basil
Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the fresh basil leaves. Adjust seasoning if needed, and serve immediately.
