Lasagna Ingredients

Method

Lasagna Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the meat sauce

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent.

  2. 2

Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 3

Stir in the tomato sauce, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

  4. 4

    Prepare the cheese mixture

In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, half of the grated Parmesan cheese, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until smooth.

  5. 5

    Cook the lasagna noodles

While the meat sauce is simmering, cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  6. 6

    Assemble the lasagna

In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom. Place 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce.

  7. 7

Spread half of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles, followed by a third of the mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers: meat sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella.

  8. 8

Finish with a final layer of meat sauce and the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.

  9. 9

    Bake the lasagna

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.

  10. 10

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

  11. 11

    Serve

Let the lasagna cool for about 10 minutes before slicing. Serve hot and enjoy your delicious homemade lasagna!
