Pasta

Method

Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil the Water

In a large pot, bring 2 liters of water to a rolling boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Add Salt

Once the water is boiling, add 1 teaspoon of salt to the water.

  3. 3

    Cook the Pasta

Add 200 grams of pasta to the boiling water. Cook according to the package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes for al dente.

  4. 4

    Drain the Pasta

Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside, reserving a cup of pasta water for the sauce if needed.

Sauce

  1. 5

    Sauté Garlic

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add 3 minced garlic cloves and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.

  2. 6

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Add 400 grams of canned crushed tomatoes to the skillet. Stir in 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, 1 teaspoon of sugar, 0.5 teaspoons of salt, and 0.25 teaspoons of black pepper. Bring the sauce to a simmer.

  3. 7

    Simmer the Sauce

Let the sauce simmer on low heat for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.

  4. 8

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained pasta to the sauce and toss well to combine. If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water to reach desired consistency.

  5. 9

    Garnish and Serve

Transfer the pasta to serving plates, garnish with fresh basil leaves, and serve hot with additional grated cheese if desired.
