Directions

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the ziti pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Cheese Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  3. 3

    Mix Pasta and Sauce

In a separate bowl, mix the cooked ziti pasta with the marinara sauce. Ensure the pasta is evenly coated.

  4. 4

    Layer the Ingredients

In a large baking dish, spread half of the pasta and sauce mixture on the bottom. Add half of the ricotta cheese mixture, followed by half of the shredded mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers with the remaining pasta, ricotta, and top with the remaining mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese.

  5. 5

    Bake the Ziti

Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. After 25 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

  6. 6

    Garnish and Serve

Remove from the oven and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Garnish with chopped fresh basil before serving.
