Method
Preparation
- 1
Muddle the Mint and Sugar
In a sturdy glass or cocktail shaker, add the fresh mint leaves and granulated sugar. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently press the mint leaves against the bottom of the glass to release their oils and flavor. Do not shred the leaves too much; just bruise them lightly.
- 2
Add Lime Juice
Pour in the fresh lime juice over the muddled mint and sugar mixture. Stir gently to combine, ensuring the sugar begins to dissolve.
- 3
Add Rum
Add the white rum to the mixture and stir well to combine all the ingredients together.
- 4
Add Soda Water
Fill the glass with ice cubes, then top off the drink with soda water. Stir gently to mix without losing the carbonation.
