Churros

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Churro Dough

In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, and 2 tablespoons of sugar. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Once boiling, remove from heat and stir in flour and salt until the mixture forms a ball. Allow it to cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Incorporate Eggs

Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.

  3. 3

    Prepare for Frying

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with paper towels.

  4. 4

    Pipe the Dough

Transfer the churro dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe 4-6 inch long churros directly into the hot oil, cutting them with scissors.

  5. 5

    Fry the Churros

Fry churros until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Coat with Cinnamon Sugar

In a shallow dish, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar and cinnamon. Roll the hot churros in the mixture to coat.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve churros warm with Mexican chocolate dipping sauce.
