Carnitas Tacos Ingredients

Method

Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pork

In a large pot, combine the pork shoulder, salt, black pepper, cumin, and garlic cloves. Pour in the orange juice and enough water to cover the pork. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to low and cover.

  2. 2

    Cook the Pork

Let the pork simmer for about 2 to 3 hours, or until it is tender and easily shreds with a fork. Check occasionally to ensure the liquid doesn't evaporate too much. Add more water if necessary.

  3. 3

    Shred the Pork

Once cooked, remove the pork from the pot and let it cool slightly. Shred the pork using two forks.

  4. 4

    Sauté the Pork

In a skillet, heat some of the cooking liquid over medium-high heat. Add the shredded pork and sauté until it is crispy and browned, about 5-7 minutes.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Tacos

Warm the corn tortillas on a dry skillet or griddle. Fill each tortilla with the crispy carnitas, diced white onion, and fresh cilantro. Top with salsa verde.
