Method
Preparing the Mojito
- 1
Muddle the Mint
In a sturdy glass, add the fresh mint leaves and the simple syrup. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently press the leaves to release their oils. Do not shred the leaves; just press them enough to release the flavor.
- 2
Add Lime Juice and Rum
Pour the fresh lime juice and white rum into the glass with the muddled mint. Stir gently to combine the ingredients.
- 3
Add Club Soda
Top the mixture with club soda. Pour it slowly to preserve the fizz. Stir gently to combine without losing the carbonation.
- 4
Garnish
Garnish with additional mint leaves and a lime wedge for presentation.
Creating Flavor Variations
- 5
Strawberry Mojito
For a strawberry mojito, add the sliced strawberries into the glass when muddling the mint. Muddle them together to release the strawberry flavor.
- 6
Coconut Mojito
For a coconut mojito, add the coconut cream to the mixture after adding the rum. Stir well to combine.
