Marinade

Method

Marinade

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a large bowl, combine olive oil, lime juice, soy sauce, minced garlic, cumin, chili powder, black pepper, and salt to create the marinade.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Steak

Add the flank steak to the marinade, ensuring it is well coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight for maximum flavor.

Rice

  1. 3

    Cook the Rice

In a saucepan, combine the long-grain white rice, water, and salt. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to low heat, cover, and simmer for about 18-20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and water is absorbed. Fluff with a fork before serving.

Beans

  1. 4

    Heat the Beans

In a small saucepan, combine the canned black beans (drained and rinsed), cumin, garlic powder, and salt. Heat over medium heat until warmed through, about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Grilling

  1. 5

    Grill the Steak

Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and discard the marinade. Grill the steak for approximately 6-7 minutes per side for medium-rare or until it reaches the desired doneness. Let the steak rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
