Tortilla

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Rice

In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add 2 cups of white rice, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18-20 minutes or until the rice is tender and water is absorbed. Fluff with a fork and set aside.

  2. 2

    Cook the Protein

If using chicken, grill or sauté 2 cups of chicken breast until fully cooked and no longer pink in the center, about 6-7 minutes per side. For ground beef, cook in a skillet over medium heat until browned, about 8-10 minutes. If using black beans, you can simply heat them on the stove until warm.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Toppings

Wash and chop the lettuce and tomatoes. Grate the cheese if not pre-shredded. Set aside the salsa and sour cream.

Assembly

  1. 4

    Assemble the Burrito

Lay a flour tortilla flat on a clean surface. In the center, add a scoop of cooked rice, followed by your choice of protein (chicken, beef, or beans), and then top with salsa, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and a dollop of sour cream.

  2. 5

    Wrap the Burrito

Fold the sides of the tortilla inward over the filling, then roll the bottom up over the filling tightly. Continue rolling until the burrito is fully wrapped. Repeat this process for the remaining tortillas.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve

Cut the burrito in half if desired, and serve with extra salsa or sour cream on the side.
