Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Gather and measure all the ingredients listed. Drain the canned tomatoes and dice the jalapeño (if using fresh). Chop the green onions and set aside.

Cooking

  1. 2

    Melt the Cheeses

In a medium saucepan over low heat, add the cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, and Monterey Jack cheese. Stir occasionally until the cheeses are melted and smooth.

  2. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Once the cheese is melted, add the sour cream, diced tomatoes, chopped green onions, and diced jalapeño. Stir until well combined.

  3. 4

    Season the Dip

Add the garlic powder, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper to the mixture. Stir well to incorporate all the spices evenly.

  4. 5

    Adjust Consistency

If the dip is too thick, gradually stir in the milk until you reach your desired consistency.

  5. 6

    Heat Through

Continue to heat the dip on low for an additional 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until warmed through.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve the Queso Dip

Transfer the queso dip to a serving bowl and serve hot with tortilla chips for dipping.
