Prepare the Bananas
Peel the ripe bananas and mash them in a bowl until smooth. Set aside.

In a medium saucepan, whisk together the granulated sugar and all-purpose flour.

Cook the Mixture
Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring frequently until the mixture thickens and comes to a gentle boil.

Finalize the Pudding
Continue to cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in the mashed bananas and vanilla extract.
Assembling the Pudding

Layer the Ingredients
In a large serving dish, layer the bottom with vanilla wafers, followed by a layer of the banana pudding, and then a layer of whipped cream.

Continue layering with remaining wafers, pudding, and whipped cream until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of whipped cream on top.

Slice the additional banana and place on top of the whipped cream for garnish.
