Chocolate Mousse Preparation

Melt the Chocolate and Butter
In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water (double boiler) and stir until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Whip the Eggs and Sugar
In a separate mixing bowl, separate the egg whites and yolks. Beat the egg yolks with granulated sugar until pale and creamy. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.

Combine Mixtures
Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg yolk mixture, stirring gently until fully incorporated.

Whip the Cream
In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture until no white streaks remain.

Chill the Mousse
Spoon the mousse into serving dishes and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until set.

Prepare the Whipped Cream
In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Whip until soft peaks form.

Once the mousse is set, remove from the refrigerator and top with the whipped cream before serving.
