Herbal Liqueur Base

Coloring and Flavoring

Method

Herbal Liqueur Preparation

  1. 1

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large glass jar, combine the dried wormwood, hyssop, lemon balm, angelica root, mint, sage, and thyme. Mix well to ensure an even distribution of herbs.

  2. 2

    Add Sugar and Spirits

Pour in the sugar and high-proof neutral spirit. Stir gently until the sugar is fully dissolved.

  3. 3

    Infusion Process

Seal the jar tightly and let the mixture infuse in a cool, dark place for about 2 weeks. Shake the jar gently every few days to help the infusion process.

Finalizing the Liqueur

  1. 4

    Straining the Mixture

After 2 weeks, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into another clean jar to remove the herbs. Press the herbs to extract as much liquid as possible.

  2. 5

    Add Fresh Mint and Dilute

Add the fresh mint leaves to the strained liquid. Then, dilute the mixture by adding the 250 ml of spirits to achieve a desired alcohol content.

  3. 6

    Coloring the Liqueur

If a vivid green color is desired, add 2 drops of green food coloring and stir gently until fully incorporated.

  4. 7

    Bottling

Transfer the finished liqueur into clean bottles and seal tightly. Allow it to age for at least an additional week for the flavors to meld.
