Churro Dough

Sugar Coating

Method

Prepare Churro Dough

  1. 1

    Boil Water Mixture

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup water, 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 cup unsalted butter. Bring to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Add Flour

Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat and stir in 1 cup all-purpose flour until the mixture forms a ball. Allow it to cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Eggs

Add 2 large eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth. Stir in 1 teaspoon cinnamon.

Fry Churros

  1. 4

    Heat Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat 4 cups of vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C).

  2. 5

    Pipe Churros

Transfer the churro dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe 4-6 inch long strips directly into the hot oil.

  3. 6

    Fry Until Golden

Fry the churros for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown. Use tongs to turn them carefully.

  4. 7

    Drain Excess Oil

Once cooked, remove the churros from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain any excess oil.

Coat Churros

  1. 8

    Mix Sugar Coating

In a shallow bowl, combine 1 cup granulated sugar with 2 teaspoons cinnamon.

  2. 9

    Coat Churros

While still warm, roll the churros in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.

Prepare Chocolate Sauce

  1. 10

    Heat Cream

In a small saucepan, heat 1 cup heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer.

  2. 11

    Melt Chocolate

Remove from heat and add 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Stir until smooth and fully melted.
