Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Beef

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, stirring occasionally to break up the meat, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 2

    Season the Beef

Once the beef is browned, drain excess fat if necessary. Add chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the spices are fragrant.

  3. 3

    Warm the Refried Beans

In a small saucepan, heat the refried beans over low heat until warmed through, stirring occasionally.

Assembly

  1. 4

    Prepare the Tortillas

Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet for about 30 seconds on each side or until pliable. Remove from heat and keep warm.

  2. 5

    Build the Burrito

Take one tortilla and spread 1/4 cup of refried beans in the center. Add about 1/4 of the cooked beef on top of the beans, followed by 1/2 cup of shredded cheese.

  3. 6

    Add Toppings

Top the cheese with desired amounts of sour cream, salsa, diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, sliced jalapeños, and chopped cilantro.

  4. 7

    Roll the Burrito

Fold the sides of the tortilla over the filling, then roll it from the bottom up to encase all the ingredients. Place seam-side down on a plate.

  5. 8

    Repeat

Repeat the process with the remaining tortillas and ingredients.

Serving

  1. 9

    Serve

Cut the burritos in half if desired, and serve with extra salsa and sour cream on the side.
