Ingredients for Beer Battered Fish N Chips
Method
Directions for Preparing Beer Battered Fish N Chips
- 1
Prepare the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Whisk in the beer until the batter is smooth and free of lumps. Let it rest for about 15 minutes.
- 2
Heat the Oil
In a deep fryer or large pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 3
Dredge the Fish
Pat the Alaskan cod fillets dry with a paper towel. Dip each piece into the batter, allowing any excess to drip off.
- 4
Fry the Fish
Carefully lower the battered fish into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 5
Cook the Fries
In the same oil, add the natural cut fries and cook according to package instructions or until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
- 6
Serve
Plate the fried fish and fries. Serve with house tartar sauce and cocktail sauce on the side.
