Method

Prepare the Beef Patty

1

Mix the Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

2

Shape the Patties

Divide the beef mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties, making sure they are slightly larger than the burger buns as they will shrink while cooking.

Cook the Beef Patty

3

Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat or a skillet over medium-high heat on the stove.

4

Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty. Cook for another 4-5 minutes until the cheese is melted and the patties are cooked to your desired doneness.

Assemble the Burger

5

Prepare the Buns

While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and toast them lightly on the grill or in a toaster if desired.

6

Add Toppings

On the bottom half of each bun, place a leaf of lettuce, followed by a slice of tomato. Add the cooked beef patty with melted cheese on top of the tomato.

7

Finish the Burger

Spread ketchup and mustard on the top half of the bun. Place it on top of the assembled burger and serve immediately.
