Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.

Pizza Assembly

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to its highest setting (usually around 475°F or 245°C) and place a pizza stone inside if you have one.

  2. 6

    Shape Pizza

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Divide it into two equal portions. Roll out one portion into a 12-inch circle.

  3. 7

    Add Sauce and Toppings

Spread half of the tomato sauce over the dough, leaving a small border. Tear the mozzarella into chunks and distribute evenly. Add fresh basil leaves on top.

  4. 8

    Bake Pizza

Transfer the pizza to the preheated oven (or pizza stone) and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.

  5. 9

    Finish and Serve

Remove from the oven, drizzle with olive oil, season with salt to taste, and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
